Friday Thoughts. People over Profit by Dale Partridge.

I read the book, People Over Profit by Dale Partridge, a couple of years ago. While a very conceptual book, and not a resource for tools and implementation, I find myself revisiting it often.  Partridge discusses valuing honesty over deception; transparency over secrecy; authenticity over hype; and people over profit. He presents the four eras of a company's lifecycle, from startup to downfall.  Most startup companies, over time, will ultimately begin to lose their way, give in to pressures, and sacrifice quality / integrity / people.

We don't live in a fantasy world where everyone is good, just, and honorable, nor can we expect everyone to always do the right, or kind, thing.  Listen to the video, read the book.  You'll be able to identify the eras/lifecycles in large corporations, local businesses, clients you work with, and in your own business/employer.

How do we face the challenges and struggles, and find the strength to remain true to our values? Can we stay focused on craftsmanship and authenticity, remain captivated by our values, and put people first?
